A National Research Associateship Program (RAP) postodoctoral opportunity is available to develop improved sample processing methods for real-time, in situ measurements of enterococci and Vibrio spp. in marine environments. A strong candidate will have a rich background in nucleic acid extraction, concentration, purification and detection from environmental matrices, particularly sample processing for quantitative polymerase chain reaction methods. Experience with electrophoretic concentration and purification technologies is highly desired. Experience working with commercial or custom-made automated systems for sample preparation and processing is desirable. Applicants need excellent communication and team-building skills, as well as possess the ability to carry out independent research.
The awardee will be located at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Southwest Fisheries Science Center (SWFSC) in La Jolla, CA. The project is in partnership with researchers at the Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute (MBARI), the Southern California Coastal Water Research Project (SCCWRP), the West Coast Center of Excellence for Ocean and Human Health (OHH) at the NOAA Northwest Fisheries Science Center (NWFSC), the Stanford Center for Ocean Solutions, and the NOAA Atlantic and Oceanographic & Meteorological Laboratories (AOML).

MICROBIOLOGY SUPERVISOR
The Microbiology Supervisor has direct responsibility for all aspects of operation within the microbiology
section. The supervisor is responsible for the organization of work, supervision of employees, staff
development, expense control, quality assurance, process improvement, and problem solving in the delivery of
services and related programs within the section.
Requirements:
A master’s degree in a biological science, or medical technology; or an appropriate Baccalaureate degree with
an ASCP Board of Registry specialist certification in appropriate specialty, or equivalent education and
experience
Experience:
• Five years of relevant clinical experience with at least three years in the area of specialty
• At least 3 years demonstrated ability handling multiple administrative and technical tasks/projects involving
both internal and external customers. Strong interpersonal skills for interacting with peers, patients,
physicians and other clients or service providers of the medical center. Full command (verbal and written)
of the English language.

Sterility Technician/Microbiology Technologist
NAMSA, the world leader in medical device testing, has an immediate opening for a Sterility Technician/Microbiology Technologist in our Microbiology Lab. Responsibilities include performing both routine and special/non-routine sterility assurance and microbiology testing activities including, but not limited to: sterilization validation studies, pharmocopeial sterility tests, growth promotion studies, environmental monitoring, microbial identifications, bioburden and antimicrobial tests. Applicants must be able to demonstrate technical proficiencies in multiple specialty areas within the Microbiology Lab and work with minimal supervision. The Sterility Technician/Microbiology Technologist will assist with the development of test specifications, accurately perform assigned tests and record raw data in log books and on worksheets. Applicants must also possess the ability to analyze, calculate and interpret results. Basic lab skills are required, i.e., pipeting, measurements of liquids and quantitative analysis.
